The implementation of microcredit in Algeria has significantly contributed to the socio-economic integration of individuals lacking stable or consistent income, it has helped to promote the social development of segments that are not eligible for the traditional banking system including graduates of universities, institutes, and professional training centers.

Microcredit is one of the support programs set up by the public authorities, that are meant to advancing the new growth model of the nation. This initiative aligns with the strategic vision outlined by President AbdElMadjid TEBBOUNE, which encourages the diversification of the national and local economy as well as exports. Furthermore, it aims to provide citizens seeking socio-economic inclusion with the means to establish their own micro-enterprises, thereby fostering local development within their respective regions.

The primary objective of the National Agency for the Management of Microcredit is to provide support and funding for small- projects, through a variety of financial and non-financial services, primarily focused on addressing unemployment and poverty, encouraging self-employment and the development of an entrepreneurial spirit that would replace that of assistantship, thanks to the loans it grants.

Since its creation in 2004, the challenges have been numerous and the task arduous, although enthusiastic, since it has allowed until December 2024, the creation of more than 1 million micro-enterprises, and more than a million jobs.

The National Agency for the Management of Microcredit attaches great importance to training and support of project and idea leaders, especially young individuals, and university graduates. This initiative enables beneficiaries to access various non-financial services, including training in global financial education and skills related to the creation and management of micro-enterprises.

In addition, ANGEM has set up a new program, called TAMKIN, which was launched in June 2024.This program is designed to offer specific services to each segment of the population, including housewives, rural women, and young individuals who lack opportunities to showcase their talents and ideas.

The communication aspect is of very importance in terms of enhancing the visibility of the services provided by the agency. With this objective in focus, the agency has developed an effective communication strategy mainly based on local work and aims to reach isolated areas. This approach includes field visits and the utilization of local information spaces in order to promote the microcredit program and make its financing formulas known across the country, through the 49 wilaya agencies and the 547 support cells.

On the other hand, the agency places its human skills at the heart of its priorities, being aware that focus on this resource is essential to establish a favorable and productive work environment and improve the efficiency and profitability of the agency. For this reason, ANGEM has outlined a rich training program for its staff in order to strengthen their professional skills in order to face the challenges imposed by the modern work environment.

Finally, ANGEM is working to give new impetus to its microcredit program in order to guarantee a multidimensional impact through the creation of micro-enterprises according to a new vision, which favours an economic approach that may create wealth and added value without neglecting aspect the microcredit social.
