ANGEM organises a training day on personal data protection, for agency staff

The National Agency for the Management of Microcredit (ANGEM), in partnership with the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data and with the support of Algérie Poste, organized a training and awareness session for staff members from several wilayas. Dedicated to the protection of personal data, this initiative forms part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with the legal and regulatory framework governing personal data processing, promote responsible and secure information management, and support the digital transformation of public administration.

The event provided participants with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the legal, regulatory, and operational dimensions of personal data protection in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 18-07 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data. It also marked an important step toward promoting best practices and reinforcing mechanisms that ensure secure, reliable, and rights-based data processing.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Souade Bendjemil, Chief Executive Officer of ANGEM, highlighted that personal data protection has become a key pillar of public administration modernization. She stressed that public trust, transparency, and the safeguarding of individual rights increasingly depend on robust data governance, particularly in an environment shaped by rapid digitalization and the growing use of online public services.

She also highlighted ANGEM’s specific responsibility in this area. As part of its mission to support micro-enterprises and foster socio-economic inclusion, the Agency processes a substantial volume of personal data every day relating to project holders and microcredit beneficiaries. Protecting this information is therefore not only a legal obligation but also an ethical and professional commitment, requiring the adoption of practices that meet the highest standards of security and confidentiality.

Ms. Bendjemil further noted that this training initiative reflects the Agency’s strategy to strengthen the capacities of its human resources and prepare them to address the challenges associated with digital transformation. It contributes to building a strong culture of personal data protection by raising awareness of the responsibilities involved in the collection, processing, storage, and security of personal information.

The programme featured a series of presentations and interactive discussions led by experts and representatives of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data. The sessions focused on the current legal and regulatory framework, organizational compliance requirements, and practical approaches to implementing the provisions of national legislation.

Algérie Poste also showcased its digital payment solutions, business account services, and innovative digital offerings. The presentation highlighted the tools developed to support the digitalization of public institutions and improve the efficiency and quality of administrative services.

Through this initiative, the National Agency for the Management of Microcredit reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the skills of its workforce and promoting responsible personal data governance. The event aligns with national efforts to build a modern, efficient, and digitally secure public administration capable of reinforcing citizens’ confidence in public services over the long term.
