Closure of the “Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative -We-Fi in Algeria” project

Ms. Souade Bendjemil, the General Director of the National Agency for the Management Microcredit, had the privilege of attending on May 29, 2025, the closing ceremony of the “Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative -We-Fi in Algeria” program aimed at strengthening the skills of Algerian women entrepreneurs in promoting e-commerce for small and medium-sized enterprises. The implementation of this program, funded by the World Bank, was assigned to the consulting firm Deloitte.

The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Kamal Brahim, Mrs. Marie Christine and Mrs. Aicha Mezghani, representatives of the World Bank in Algeria, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, the General Director of the Digital Development Support Company, a representative of the General Director of Algeria Telecom, executives of the National Agency for the Management Microcredit and several women entrepreneur who have benefited from the microcredit program.

During this meeting, representatives of the World Bank, namely Mr. Kamal Brahim and Mrs. Marie Christine, delivered a speech highlighting the significance of this program as an initiative that strengthens the role of women in the national economy by enabling them to acquire the skills for e-commerce, thereby fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting economic development in Algeria.

For her part, the General Director of ANGEM stated that the agency is committed to fostering the spirit of initiative and female creativity, by focusing on digital technologies as a driving force for change, emphasizing the importance of this project, given its contribution to the development of both local and national economy, particularly in terms of job creation.

She added that the future of women’s micro-entrepreneurship in Algeria relies on the adoption of digital tools and the integration of women into digital value chains, which will help build a strong, resilient, competitive, and sustainable women’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.  Several activities have been scheduled alongside this event, including:

  • A comprehensive presentation of the program by the World Bank representative, Ms. Marie Christine. This presentation included an overview of the project, its goals, and its outcomes.
  • The organization of two panels: the first, entitled “Success stories and their impact”, moderated by Ms. Zerari Samiha, Program Development Executive, Mr. Fathi Bouzid and Ms. Samia Omrani, in charge of training within the local Agency of Chlef, as well as Ms. Djerdi Amina, beneficiary of the microcredit program and training in e-commerce, who thanks to this training, was able to promote her products electronically, she praised the importance of this training. The second panel focused on collaboration between the public and private sectors in the service of small and medium-sized enterprises, moderated by Ms. Souade Bendjmil, the General Director of ANGEM, Ms. Ouafia Damai, Director of the National Chamber of Crafts and Trades, as well as Ms. Marie Christine, representative of the World Bank.
  • The organization of an exhibition dedicated to the products of women who benefited from the microcredit program and e-commerce training.
